The Fremantle Traffic Bridge is being replaced to improve journeys for road, shared path and river users.
The existing bridge will close on 1 February 2026 for up to 12 months to enable completion of major works, including removal of the existing bridge, installation of the bridge deck and road construction.
To support the community during the closure and keep Stirling Highway moving there will be additional train and bus services at the new reduced flat fare and free parking at Fremantle Station.
The iconic new bridge will feature two traffic lanes in each direction for road users and safer pedestrian and cyclist paths on each side. The upgrade will increase marine safety and navigational clearances for river users.
